Anti-wrinkle injections provide a natural-looking facial reset – diminishing fine lines, preventing wrinkles from bedding in and creating a more positive, well-rested look. They can also help alleviate stress-related symptoms of headaches and jaw tension.
“As we get older, our facial muscles tend to become more tense, causing us to look more strained. Anti-wrinkle injections can be a superb counter to this.”
Horizontal forehead lines. This area should only be treated in conjunction with the frown lines.
Otherwise known as the 11 lines between the eyebrows.
The horizontal lines emanating from the lateral portion of the eye to the nose which crinkle on smiling.
The diagonal lines from the corner of the eye to the nose.
The small fine lines under the eye can sometimes be softened (but not eliminated).
Some people find the nasal tip droops when they are smiling. Botox injections can help to minimise this.
When smiling, if there is too much show of the gum, Botox can be used to drop the smile so the gum is not as visible.
A compelling alternative to dermal fillers in the lip, or for those with a gummy smile.
When speaking, sometimes the chin muscle is overactive and causes dimpling here.
This area can be injected either to relieve pain from tooth grinding or to slim the face.
This treatment is performed to lift the jawline after removing the downwards influence of the platysmal muscle in this specific region.
The vertical bands from the lower part of the jaw to the lower part of the neck.
The shoulder muscle which can be responsible for pain when in tension. This area can also be treated to give a more elegant appearance to the neck.
Migraine protocol can help with recurrent headaches when there are more than 15 per month.
Prevents downwards pulling that can give the mouth a sad appearance.
Anti-wrinkle Injections relax often-tense facial muscles, compelling fine lines and wrinkles to fall away, allowing the face to open up and patients to appear more confident, contented, and better-rested. Instead of focusing on adding tautness, their power is anchored in creating a wonderfully refreshed look (including some natural motion).
Notably, anti-wrinkle injections aren’t solely for eliminating frown lines and wrinkles, they can also be used to slim the lower face and streamline the jawline by injecting the masseter muscle, and depreciates prominent platysmal bands (parallel vertical neck muscles).
Additionally, they’re an invaluable ally in treating chronic stress-related conditions, such as teeth grinding and jaw clenching in bruxism, which can lead to dental damage, migraines, or other longer-term health conditions.
Other medical reasons for treating patients with anti-wrinkle injections include Hyperhidrosis (or excessive sweating) treatment, and for the treatment of migraines.
For the Face:
Most commonly, anti-wrinkle injections are used on the forehead and around the eyes to deplete frown and horizontal forehead lines, crow’s feet, and also to lift the brows (a tendency to frown can cause the brows to be dragged inwards and down, which these muscle-loosening injectables can counteract).
Bunny lines – wrinkles on the bridge of the nose when you scrunch your face can be softened.
Lip flip – this gives your upper lip a subtle enhancement, making it appear fuller by releasing a natural pout repressed by over-strong lip muscles. This is a good treatment for patients who want to enhance their lips, but don’t want lip filler treatment with dermal fillers. Anti-wrinkle injections wear off more quickly than lip fillers, so some patients may want to test what a fuller lip effect looks like before taking the plunge with lip fillers, whereas some patients just prefer the look of a lip flip over lip fillers.
Smoker lines – small vertical lines that appear around the lip. They can be a natural part of ageing but are also often associated with lines that appear on smokers. We are able to use anti-wrinkle injections to smooth and reduce the appearance of these lines.
Downturned mouth corners – the muscles pulling on the edges of the lips can give a sad down-in-the-mouth appearance. This can be relieved with injections into the muscles to prevent them from pulling.
Noses that droop while smiling – (we treat the area just below the nose) a droopy nasal tip can be pulled down during a smile, causing a pecking-like motion. Likewise, a prominent nostril flair can be softened with a few anti-wrinkle injections.
Orange peel chin – dimpled and bumpy skin on the chin, which is especially evident on speaking and can be ageing.
Gummy smile– the relaxing effect allows the smile to subtly drop, concealing the excess gum by temporarily freezing the muscle that exposes the gums when you smile.
Jawline slimming – if you have a wide face and you would like to slenderise it, we can use anti-wrinkle injections to create this effect. By injecting the masseter muscle we can relax the look of this area, slimming the face and reducing the look of a square jawline.
Nefertiti Neck Lift – the neck is just as important to treat as the face to ensure a harmonised appearance. This treatment can soften over-pronounced salivary glands, slim a bulky neck and give a very subtle cheek lift. It is referred to as Nefertiti Neck Lift after the ancient queen, who was known for having a beautiful, elongated neck.
Platysmal bands – prominent vertical platysmal bands can create the appearance of a wider or stringy neck. Treating these bands can give a tighter look to the lower face and relaxed look to the neck.
For the Neck & Jawline – this treatment can soften over-pronounced salivary glands, slim a bulky neck, or help streamline the jawline. They can also de-emphasise the aforementioned platysmal bands, which can create the appearance of saggy skin and vertical neck creases.
Calf slimming – it can even be used on the legs to slim bulky calves and make the legs appear more slender.
Hyperhidrosis -this is the medical name for excessive sweating. Patients who suffer from this condition can feel embarrassed or self-conscious, especially if they experience sweat patches on their clothing. Hyperhidrosis can be rectified with anti-wrinkle injections that are placed in the armpits or the palms of the hands, which safely blocks a chemical that activates over-production in the sweat glands. This treatment stops excessive sweating and can help improve confidence in patients who suffer from Hyperhidrosis.
Bruxism – there’s also a powerful potential stress-relieving aspect to this treatment: for people predisposed to grinding their teeth when anxious or asleep, anti-wrinkle injections can be used to safely limit the movement of the jaw muscle responsible for grinding and clenching. Bruxism is the medical term for teeth grinding. Patients with Bruxism find that they involuntarily grind their teeth. This can sometimes be worse for patients while they are sleeping. Tooth grinding not only wears the teeth down, but it can also place a lot of tension on the jaw area, which can lead to feelings of stress and also cause headaches in sufferers. By injecting the masseter area with muscle-relaxing injectables, we can stop the masseter muscles from clenching, relieving tension, stress, headaches and protecting the teeth from being worn down even further.
Migraines – sufferers will know how challenging it can be to manage this debilitating condition. If you are looking for a treatment that can improve this concern, anti-wrinkle injections could be for you. The injections are placed in multiple areas of the face, neck and head. Most migraine sufferers will notice a reduction in the amount and intensity of headaches they have after this treatment. This may involve a halo of injections running from the temple to the shoulders, loosening facial tension to relieve pressure.
Our unparalleled knowledge of dental anatomy (the TLC team boasts three medical doctors with dentistry degrees and experienced nurses) is especially pertinent to providing this type of top-tier stress-relief.
This treatment is suitable for anyone over the age of 18, but can only be performed following a full consultation with a TLC doctor or nurse prescriber to assess suitability.
Anti-wrinkle injections are renowned for their usual lack of any downtime and typically last three to four months (six for those focused on the sweat glands).
However, please note that all treatment responses and recovery times are dependent on the individual patient.
Other treatments that also provide a satisfying degree of facial rejuvenation, including helping you to look more well-rested and confident, include Dermal Fillers and Injectable Moisturisers.
These treatments, due to the involvement of prescription-only medicines, can only be performed in tandem with full guidance from a TLC doctor or nurse prescriber.
Anti-wrinkle injections relax often-tense facial muscles, allowing the face to open up, so patients appear more confident, contented and well rested.

Only minimally discomfiting, you should expect a short-lived pricking sensation during each injection.
The effect usually emerges from three to five days, reaching its full impact between two and three weeks, so if you have a special event to attend it’s important to plan accordingly. We advise scheduling a treatment one month prior to a big occasion so there’s ample time to make any adjustments.
There is no antidote to wrinkle relaxation, but the effects do reverse over time as the treatment wears off.
Not looking natural or no longer resembling oneself is a significant concern for lots of people. However, thanks to our focus on creating a harmonious set of facial features, most of our patients report that others seem to sense something positive has changed, without being able to put their finger on why. We’re proud to have three medical doctors with dentistry degrees on the team at TLC and highly experienced nurses, whose in-depth understanding of dental and facial anatomy has underscored our capacity to unlock especially natural-looking results.
Problems associated with Advanced Muscle Relaxing Injectables include bruising and temporarily droopy eyelids or eyebrows. However, we minimise these risks by initially taking things slowly and using a conservative volume of the injectable, building gradually to determine a patient’s preferred look.
Headaches are fairly common following an initial treatment with some (far fewer) patients also experiencing tiredness, neck weakness, double vision, and nausea.
