Dr Sarah Tonks says...

“Think of our corrective procedures as akin to the process of removing semi-permanent make-up. We’ll get you back to your original baseline.”

What is it and how does it work?

Our corrective procedures provide a sensitive and supportive non-surgical reset button for those unhappy with a previous treatment involving hyaluronic acid.

Akin to the process of removing semi-permanent cosmetics, our gentle procedures are usually applicable to dermal fillers that no longer presents a look or feel aligned to your sensibilities. Most commonly connected to restoring the natural contours of the lips or eyes, we inject an enzyme into the relevant area to dissolve the original product, returning the facial contours back to a beautiful baseline.

Which body parts is it designed for?

Corrective procedures are generally performed on the face, but could be applicable to anywhere in the body where a hyaluronic acid dermal filler has been used. Removal of body dermal fillers tends to be tough due to the volumes usually placed.

Who is it primarily good for?

Anyone aged over 18 keen to reverse a treatment that no longer feels appropriate for them.

Please note that this procedure only remedies treatments undertaken using hyaluronic fillers.

How long will it last for and what’s the downtime?

In the initial instance, the face can appear moderately swollen – a swelling that generally dissipates almost entirely by the following day. All patients should wait for at least two weeks (preferably longer) until they embark on a new treatment of any kind.

Please note that all treatment responses and recovery times are dependent on the individual patient.

What other treatments does it work well with?

What else should I know?

Any corrective procedures, regardless of how gently applied, will cause a breakdown of your body’s native hyaluronic acid, but for the vast majority of patients this will rebound within 48 hours.

These treatments can only be performed in tandem with a full consultation with a TLC doctor or nurse prescriber.

FAQS

Here are a few final things that you might like to know before taking things forward. If you have any other questions we haven’t thought of yet, no problem! Please email us at hello@thelovelyclinic.co.uk and one of the team will get back to you as quickly as they possibly can.

Does it hurt?

No. Corrective Procedures are no more painful than the process of having the original filler.

When does it start to work?

The process of correction will take effect immediately, but it may take a day or two for the swelling to subside (it typically dissipates within a week). Final results will become apparent after around seven days.

WHAT CAN GO WRONG?

In some instances, the removal of native hyaluronic acid can make the skin look a little deflated, but this will abate in time. Please also note that there is a risk of allergy regarding the dissolving enzyme used during the treatment.
