Getting started with TLC

From our first chat all the way through to your post-treatment care.

We understand that taking the first few steps can often seem rather overwhelming when having an aesthetic treatment, or when navigating the wealth of information you’ll need to be aware of once you’re on board, and then with getting a grip on the order of play as regards what you need to do next and by when, at every stage in the process (before, during and after).

So, whether you’re completely new to TLC and unsure of how to get started, or are a returning patient curious about exploring new treatment possibilities with us, or just want to get a better sense of what’s involved in a standard treatment pathway from beginning to end, here’s an overview of the ways in which we’ll guide you through the journey, and some of the key things to expect during each of the three key stages:

The TLC exploratory call

New patients (excluding those booking one of our zero-prep Therapist Services treatments) will have a detailed exploratory appointment with our expert call coordinator, either via a telephone call, as a virtual session or in person (depending on your preference), where we’ll discuss your concerns, aspirations, benchmarks and aesthetic preferences.

As both a trained aesthetics therapist and skilled clinical assistant, our call coordinator will be able to answer any questions you have in detail, and recommend whether you need to have a follow-up consultation or not with a TLC therapist or doctor

Please note that all patients are welcome to have a call with our treatment coordinator, should they want to do so, regardless of the level of treatment or history that a patient has with us. Many people find that a regular check-in to discuss topics such as their progress to date, or the new products, devices and treatments we offer, is both a comforting and informative experience.

Patients wanting to book our Super Skin MOT facial treatment from our Therapist Services menu can make an appointment directly via the main clinic email or phone number without prior discussion with our call coordinator, therapist or doctor.

For all other Therapist Services bookings, patients are required to have a consultation with a therapist to select the most suitable treatment for their needs; many include upgrade options or the capacity to switch-in different finishing treatments, making a kick-off conversation well worth the time to ensure we meet expectations. A consultation fee will be charged, but don’t worry, it is fully redeemable against any treatment provided within three months of the consultation.

During this consultation, the details of any plans we discuss will subsequently be emailed to you for review, should you need more time and information to make a decision, or as a record of our conversation and recommendations if you prefer to make a booking at the time of the consultation itself.

For any of the Therapist Services involving the Sciton JOULE® Laser & Light Therapies, we will also require a patch test 48 hours prior to the treatment to ensure that your skin is fully suitable for the desired procedure.

Patients who are already clear about the treatment they’d like, or who want or have been advised to have further guidance from one of our TLC doctors or the nursing team, can book a session (via phone or email) with a doctor or nurse, which would begin with a consultation either online or in person. This will incur a consultation fee, which is once again redeemable against any treatment subsequently booked and provided within three months of the consultation.

During these consultations, we’ll conduct an up-close examination of your skin to assess its condition via a number of key parameters, taking photos to use as part of your longer-term journey with us. As with the Therapist Services consultation, any plans we discuss will subsequently be emailed over to you, for you to review and/or keep as a record of our conversation and recommendations.

After booking an exploratory appointment, or a doctor or nurse consultation, you’ll be sent some obligatory paperwork we need you to fill in to provide us with enough information to be able to support your goals with the utmost skill, safety and accuracy. This will include questionnaires relating to your medical history and aesthetic interests that we can refer to when in conversation with you if we need to do so.

If the initial consultation is online, we’ll also require you to provide some photos – some old images as well as more recent shots to get a sense of how your skin may have changed over a known time period – to help us determine the very best treatment or combination of treatments for you.

As noted above, treatment plans will be discussed at your initial consultation and subsequently emailed through to you as a record for review, even if you decide to book an appointment during the consultation itself. We’ll update this plan, resending it to you as often as is necessary, in line with any subsequent discussions or treatments, so that your treatment plan details are always up to date.

Additionally, we’ll provide you with an accompanying skincare plan from our brand-agnostic skincare concierge service, GetHarley.

Once you’ve decided on a treatment or package of treatments, and have officially booked them in with us, we’ll send you the relevant consent forms and pre-care forms. You’ll need to get these back to us before your treatment session takes place (on the same day is fine), so we can finalise your personal preparations.
